The history of Villa Olmi Resort is ancient and unique, as is the elegance and luxury of its spaces which make it one of the most exclusive among the 5 star hotels in Florence and at Bagno a Ripoli.

The territory where Villa Olmi rises is called Pian di Ripoli, the area, characterized by very rich soils, was considered the Florence's fruit garden. Here the friars Vallombrosani had their holdings and the Accademia of Georgofili had some experimental gardens. The first territory maps were drawned by Leonardo da Vinci.

The first estate’s owners were the Peruzzi, then the Buonguglielmini from Perugia that in 1463 edified the villa on the rural existing buildings. In 1565 the properties passed to the Mozzi, a very important Florentine family, that, as Torrigiani says, owned the "Bella Gioconda”, painted by Leonardo da Vinci.

In 1781 senator Giulio de Mozzi enlarged and modernized the estate and, after a while, the last family’s descendant, Adolfo di Pier Giannozzo Mozzi del Garbo, who dilapidated the family’s heritage, sold it to the lawyer Ippolito Pestellini. The Pestellini did of it a very efficient agricultural estate; the wonderful results of this activity, both practical than economical, are proved by a lot of medals awarded from 1870 to 1900, among which the gold Medal to the Paris universal Exposition in 1900.
